Default 98 A6 Quattro Automatic Trans issue

My A6 gave out in Vegas. There was a sound like a manual popping out of gear and I lost everything. No park, reverse or any forward gears. I push the accelerator and the speedometer will register but the car is stationary. After a bit I went back to the car and it went into gear but quickly popped out again (within 30 seconds of being in gear.) HELP!!! is this a torque converter, or an T-case or something other than a transmission rebuild?

This sounds like a torque converter issue. Do you have access to vagcom and can scan the controller for codes?

Well, I hate to break the news to you but unless you're going to do the work yourself, you might want to stay in Vegas until you hit the jackpot. (Assuming your torque converter is shot)

I will be doing this myself. I am lucky I have a friend that owns a transport company. As far as the torque converter I may as well do a trans since I will have it out. I have found used ones for less than a grand with half the miles I have.
