A6 1.8T SE Fuse blown message, but which one?
Hi there,
New to the forums and just picked up my first ever Audi after years of BMW ownership. Got sick of the Beemers breaking down and wanted something a little less showy. First day picked it up, drove it home and the power warning (amber battery) suddenly popped on in the display and the word fuse is also showing above the trip meter.
Car works fine, but illuminated steering wheel controls, switches for radio and aircon, electric windows, the led's that glow from the roof all do not light up at night. Also volt meter is not working. It was fine when I picked it up, hence knowing these things have stopped working!
Help, please. I'm hoping it is just a fuse that I can replace and then get on with enjoying my car (a 2000 reg A6 1.8 T SE). Should I be worried?
Thanks
Ed

Thanks for that, the manual said F5 too. I wasn't sure as the electric mirrors still work and windows and things. The clock and date has reset itself but the rest of the instruments work fine. The aircon works too, the illumitation isn't as bright as it was on the numbers for temperature.
The fuse sign is on permanently but the system gives an OK at first for the start up check and then after a few moments the battery amber light comes on in the computer display.
With me adding this, does that change your reply at all?
Many thanks for the first reply.

hmmm interesting check if the battery is getting a good charge and what power outage the alternator is giving ( the use of a multi meter is a must here ) so you can test all the fuses with the bleep test, the low illumination might need the dimmer switch turned up.
when garages keep a car for a while they disconnect the battery or let it run flat then forget to tighten the terminals this is when you get a full reset as yours did

Just pulled fuse 5 which didn't make any difference. Noticed that fuse 1 was underrated at 4 amp instead of 5 so replaced that. No change. Then checked the manual and changed fuse 15 which is responsible for pretty much all the electrics inside. That did the trick! Voltmeter on dash now working, all interior illumination for controls are back and the car remembers what date it is. Strange problem but fingers crossed cost me about £3 to rectify.
Thanks for your help!
