A6 - 17" Chrome Rims

RE: A6 - 17" Chrome Rims
17" is an option from the factory, and what I have on mine, you should be fine as far as clearence.
As for rims in general, make sure it's the right width, bolt pattern and offset, also if you have larger brakes, make sure they will clear the rim. Someone mentioned that you shouldn't use the stock bolts with aftermarket rims, but I'm not sure the validity of it. Finally, you probably want to pay a few extra dollars and get a hubcentric ring if possible. (http://www.miata.net/garage/hubcentric.html), you might find that you may need spacers when you get them installed (I needed some 5mm for the back, and none for the front)
Compare the new tire size with the old tire size to check out if it will affect your odometer, or if you will need more clearence.

Finally, note that chrome rims usually can't be repaired (easily) so check around, or buy 2-3 piece rims and check what the price of the barrel is BEFORE you buy them so you'll know ahead of time.

RE: A6 - 17" Chrome Rims
Check out this site. I may have a set of OE SLine rims available soonbut they need to be re-finished.

There are tons of rims available. I think I may go with the gunmetal look.

I have been looking into making a rim swap on my A6 as well (C5). I would like to put the 18" rims that came on certain models of A8 as well as Passat GLX, I am curious about aspect ratio tho, I really dont want the rims at the cost of the quattro system. I dont really know how to find out aspect ratio, im sure there is an equation that can give me that or get ahold of the right person at audi, but any info regarding this as well as a link to purchase them from a reliable company would be sweet.

Puremotorsports (purems.com) sells a Velocity rim and may be able to help you. I bought my RS4 replicas from them and have generally been satisfied (there was a little paint flake on a couple rims which I am not thrilled with). The specs for the 18" rim where 8.5" width, ET38, 5x112 bolt pattern, and bolts 14x1.5 27mm R13 ball seat. Note that these are different bolts than the oem rims as they have a rounded seat. These did not require concentric rings - they fit the hubs perfectly. They are available in chrome. They fit the larger brakes on my 2.7T. I have also seen some sites listing all types of Audi replacement rims -- use google.
PS -The rims in that flicker are hideous, but each to his own.
