I have a problem on my A6 when I accelerate harder the glow plug light starts to flash & I lose power (goes into limp mode). Had it in the to the dealer yesterday they were unable to locate the problem and want it back in at £90 Hour!! They carried out a full service but never changed the fuel filter! an extra £115. Any advice would be great thanks!

most of us are from North America and do not have access your the fancy diesels that you Euros get. anyway try this

If the "glow plug" light is flashing while driving, check your brake lights! The brake light circuit is monitored by the engine electronics and this is the warning signal used in this case (among others). Burned out brake light bulbs will cause this symptom, as will a faulty or improperly adjusted brake light switch or a blown fuse for the brake lights.

Hi Thanks for the info! Unfortunately I don't have bulbs for my brake lights I have factory fitted LED clusters!

 

No bulb but you still check the brake light performance when you press the brake pedal, how about brake pedal light switch, do you have that? It is push pin type switch located above the brake pedal. Has to remove the panel under the steering wheel in order to view.

 

Thanks Guys! you did point me in the right direction!
It turns out on my rear light cluster there was a loose connection on the main 12v supply spade connection, causing it to arc and obviously effect the electrical circuit. I re made the connection and everything has been fine now! Now I can put the boot down and play with my paddles!

All I can say is they were superb at gettin back to me! paying me back my £90 diagnostic fee! Also giving me my next service for free!!
We don't get many results like this!
