Get a newer car

I have just sold my 2000 BMW 740iL, 156,000 miles. I had it for over 10 years and have always maintained and repaired as needed.....but I am a hard driver. In the last 2 years it was just one thing after another. I probably ended up spending close to $15,000 in those 2 years only because it was a car I loved and was excited about driving every single day. I strongly regret not having sold it 2 years ago. If I was a solid DIY'er the story would be different.

For your information, I now have a 2011 A6 3.0T. Other than it's lack of decently located cupholders and little inside storage, it is a great, fun car to drive.

Thanks Trian....you just proved my point. Cheers and enjoy your "2008+" model

I wish I had the time and facilities to do my own work. The story would be quite different. Just got a couple of estimates from my local mechanic, and my $7000 number appears low - and this from a good independent shop. I think the die is cast. Thanks for the insight.

If you buy used, extended Audi warranty may help you from big surprise repairs.
