A6 Interior Heating Problems

Hi all,

I have been having problems with the interior heating on my 1996 A6 2.6SE not getting hot enough (just lukewarm).

I took it to a speciaist today and they have diagnosed it as a blocked heater matrix.

The temp on the dial gets upto 90 degrees and stays there which is the normal temperature I believe.

The garage also said that it may have been caused by someone putting Rad Sticks in??? The reservoir is a murcky brown colour, possibly as a result of the said Rad Sticks.

They have advised first and foremost that a thorough flush-out may clear the blockage and restore the heaters to their former glory but as a result, may spring leaks in the system which were blocked by the Rad Sticks.

Is this a fair assumption or does anyone have any words of wisdom on this matter??

Thanks in advance

Someone probably mixed some of the wrong antifreeze with Audi G12-- It is known to form a sticky mess. I would attempt to flush the system with water a few times and then remove the heater hoses and try to run some water thru it to clean it out. I don't know if there is a control valve that you have to by pass. Maybe someone can help you with that part.
