Default A6 rattle

Has any body else had this? When I'm driving over rough pavement, brick and cobble stone type surfaces there is a muffled rattle coming from the right rear of the car that continues for a moment after getting back onto a smooth surface. The dealer has been no help. Also this vehicle has had front rotors replaced twice, a rear main seal replaced twice, a wheel bearing replaced, an engine mount replaced, cam cover seals replaced, and a transmission multi-function switch replaced. Other than those problems I love it. The car is a 2001 A6 FWD.

2 questions. Is it an Avant? If not, does it have the real sunscreen? I have a '99 Avant and have a terrible rattle coming from the back. I was told that the rear sunscreen was broken. Drives me crazy

I have the same rattle comming from the Right rear upper window area they have tried several times to fix with no success, very frustrating. I'm getting ready to take it to the dealer again to fix the same problem again!

I had the same sort of problem once, so I took it to the audi dealership in westchester, NY. They told me it was tic-tacs in my console!!!

Turns out it was my rear caliper - the bolts that held it in place fell off. Make sure that the bolts on your rear calipers are on.

I have recently bought 2006 A6 Quattro from Audi Autohaus in Scarborough ON. I am experiencing an innoying squeeking noise from backseat when driving on rough pavement. Also rattling noise coming from front right passenger side, either from the Vent or the glove compartment. I have given the car twice to the dealership to fix it but they were no help.

Default A6 Vibrates over 60 MPH

Hi,
My audi A6 (03) starts giving me vibrations once I go over 60 mph. So it gets really annoying if I have to drive constantly over 60 mph on a highway as the steering wheel transfers that vibration to my head while I stay over 60. I bought it recently (pre-owned) from Audi dealer and taken it back to them to have this fixed. All they had to say that it was a shimming problem and that they have fixed it, but its still not. please advice. thanks.

Your issue just might be a wheel that needs to be balanced, an easy fix.

Dealer said the same thing and infact balanced all wheels twice but the vibration over 60 MPH still persists. I had all my sheels replaced by another A6 of the same model but the problem persists. please help. thanks

Could be your rear seat not latching all the way or latching loosely. Try dropping the seat and seeing if you can still hear the sound.

Next I would check all 4 CV boots and verify none is torn. When torn the grease flies all over the inside of your wheel and the CV joint parts rub metal to metal. My driver side front CV boot was bad, and I had a vibration at low speed and smooth ride over 25-30 mph. Replaced the whole shaft and the car is smoooooth...
