Hey, I have an A4, but I have to come here to ask a question about my mom's 02 a6 2.7T. She came home today and parked the car, went back out an hour or two later and the backlighting to the stereo head unit was on. She turned on the car, and the deck will not turn on or off. The backlighting stays on, but there is no display on the deck. Oh yeah, and it's like -15 celcius out, that might help. Anyone have any ideas of what it could be? After dinner i'm gonna go out and disconnect the battery, reconnect it and put in the safe mode password and see if that changes anything.

 

That might fix it. One other option is to pull the fuse for the radio in the fuse box. That is how I fixed this problem once on my '02.

 

Stereos in '02+ A6'shave smart-coding which meansdisconnecting the battery won't put it in safe mode. Try the fuse thing.
