Hi,

I'm new to the forums and wondering if you could give me some advice please.....

I recently scraped the front of my 2007 A6 Saloon on the gatepost resulting in damaged paintwork and a bit of a dent on the front wing and a bumper.

I am presently not able to afford a proper repair (and I'm planning to drive the car until it dies anyway so not too concerned about resale value). Local repair centres quoted ridiculous prices and weren't even too sure what the panels were made of. (Can somebody confirm what they ARE made of please!)

I would be delighted if somebody could tell me what to do to stabilise the paintwork. At the moment I'm scared to even put it through a carwash in case I make things worse.
