Default About to buy a A6 Wagon help me!

Hi, I am interested in buying this 1999 Audi A6 Wagon, the only problem is the seller said it needs a inner front cv boot and front struts, he also said the 18 in tires rub. My question is how much is an inner front cv boot and front struts to get replaced, and are the tires rubbing causing this to happen? Should I stray away?

I don't think the 18" wheels have caused the problem, but I also wouldn't want them on a wagon. I'd stick with the more standard 16" - you'll get a much better ride quality. It's a wagon, not a S series sedan.

Front suspension work is expensive if you have a shop do the work. In addition to struts, you are likely looking at replacing upper control arms, possible lowers as well if the struts are bad. You could easily spend $2000 on these repairs alone.

I don't know your mechanical ability or the purchase price, but if it were me, I would not buy any 1999 A6 with known problems unless it were a real give away. Late 90's, early 2000's were not the best years for an A6 in terms of reliability.

Your buying a 99 Audi If you can't work on it yourself get a 2005-same money either way-I'm dead serious.

The boot kit is $16.00,

Tub of CV grease $7.00,

Working on your brand new USED Audi and making all sorts of new friends at Audiforums.com--PRICELESS
