Default Adding park assistance to 4.2?'s

I was rear ended the other day and now I'm getting a new rear bumper. Have the choice of ordering the rear bumper with park assistance. I've heard that this option can be added with a little work? Anyone out there done it to their A6 C5 4.2?

I believe from quick research that it is powered off the rear brake light system?.?

Thanks in advance for any light on this idea.

Scroll down a bit. There's a very recent post (here) that discussed an alternative to OEM. Retrofitting the OEM solution will be quite expensive because you have to replace the entire bumper skin + other parts. The alternative looks very nice IMO.

I was rear ended not long ago and requested the 2002 bumper skin so I could have the cut-outs for exhaust. There are aftermarket park sensor kits and southboroaudiguy is right...there is a post on a guy who did this MOD and had good results. In regards to changing your bumper skin and such, I posted (kinda long) my experience with my body shop and what I learned had to be done to install it correctly and capture the OEM look and quality. Check out this link: https://www.audiforums.com/m_349984/tm.htm
or you can go to SEARCH and type in 2002 bumper skin and click OK and my post will pop-up. I would ask your deale rif you could buy the 2002 skin with the parktronic and see what additional steps need to be taken to wire it up. This way, you look OEM. Good Luck!!

This sounds like a decent mod. Even in my TT it's hard to judge distance... [>:]
