The second is just readjusting the throttle body position, all tip drivers should take note of this as it dramatically improves shift responses, IE the shift points are in a relationship with throttle body position and RPM, I found that gear hunting ceased after doing this, now I do it once a week just cause

Yep yep Yep! Heat degrades performance......

Two issues

1. Thehot air sensor makes the motor think the air is warmer than it is and the air/fuel mixture gets messed up.

2. Warm air takes up more volume than cold air so you get less in the combustion chamber and thus less power. (In the old drag racing days when we ran a stock class - weblocked the water passages to the intake manifold andcooled it withicebefore a run to increase the amount of air that got into the motor. - We were able to hide the fact that we were using ice for a few weeks and hid the real reason when people finally began asking about it becaus we told them that we had an overheating problem and wanted to make sure we didn't hurt the motor. - by the way we held the C stock track record at NH raceway.)

forget about this procedure if you're not familiar and comfortable with it. Just do it using Vag Com [or the $60 APR program for it and fault eraser id you already have he APR tune].
If you don't have a VAG COM or VAG TOOL, I am sure someone on this forum near you can help

TBA aside, your car might need some TLC, a little tune up maybe... new plugs? air filter? better gas (do you get no brand cheap gas?)? clean up the TB?
