Default air pump

my engline light went on the other day and i checked to see what it was, and i guess my secondary air pump has died. My question is if this is a big issue and have to get it fixed right away or if i can sit on it for a while?

Default RE: air pump

Speaking with a friend of mine, who happens to be a Audi Certified Tech, when I had the same problem is it's not a big deal. It's suppose to help with emisions till the car gets up to it's operating temp. Now maybe he didn't tell me all of the details but this is what I understood.

Default RE: air pump

I have been driving with a bad air pump for about 6 months. I reset the light and in about a week it comes back on. The only real problems are 1. when the light comes on I assume that it is the pump and hope it isn't something else 2. I have to reset it before getting the inspection done - good thing they don't check the readiness code.

bottom line - you can wait -- but check the vaccum lines before you go spending $$ on another pump
