what is this for? i only have it on the right side under the seat(not connected)..strange..

Do you have heated seats? I know mine has the same wiring but it is connected to the seat heater.

On my daughters 02 there is an airbag sensor in that location and that wire is hooked to it I think it is only used if you have side curtain airbags but not 100% sure of that.

probably for the rear side passenger torso bags. My guess is your car wasn't optioned with them so the wires were left unused.

If your airbag light isn't on don't worry about it.

Get it scanned. Im not sure if the vag-com will tell you the exact cause of the airbag light but from the warning it seems like its pretty thorough.

With that code I would definetly say your missing that sensor under the back seat. shouldnt be hard to find used. I cant get you a pic because my daughter is away at school with her A6.
