So here is what the problem was... Well we went to a junkyard pulled off a oil cooler off of a 95 audi 100 for only 17 bucks. We put that on and it still shoot out oil. So then we found out it was the gasket. It was too thin and wasnt keeping the oil in the cooler. So we put a oil filter gasket on there for now as a replacement. but im not driving the car till i get a new oil cooler gasket. Also i was lucky enough that i didnt ruin the engine. It was clicking for a little but after i drove it home it stopped so i think i dodged a bullet with that one. Well anyway thanks to everyone that replied to this.

That helps others to check the oil cooler in a similar situation.
Thanks for the update.

Default Very good point about using adding an oil filter gasket

I am having the same problem- leaks despite new gasket. Removed and replaced three times- same problem.

I read on VWVortex that two gaskets are used on one of the VW V6 engines using the same cooler. It uses a gasket with ears like ours and a gasket like a filter gasket.

So I'm thinking of your suggestion, but using both gaskets on the same side (essentially adding the filter gasket around the gasket with the ears.

Not sure why ours doesn't already have or use two on that side (that I have seen anyway).

Thoughts or experience from others? I'm still trying to stop my leak and discover what I missed in the first place... appreciate the tips others have to offer.

This is a freeken OLD thread -- Why did it get reseructed?

The oil cooler gasket is an easy fix - certainly not rocket science!

Default Well- I'm dealing with the problem- which is new to me...

Never mind- my fix idea won't work. The two gaskets are the same size.

I blew the oil cooler gasket few weeks ago and posted the easy fix -- as I said it is not rocket science - just replace the o-ring very simple.
