Default anyone else ever have windshield wiper trouble? please post

My wipers periodically freeze up on my 98 a6 with 130k miles. Now theyre frozen completely and wont budge even with a push, im thinking the wiper transmission is stuck in one of the hinges or the motor is blown. I would like to hear any help, and/or any accounts with this. thanks

Theres really only two things it could be. Either the linkage has bound up or the motor has failed. Remove the motor and attemp to operate the wipers. If the motor works check the linkage for binding. If the linkage seems ok you may just have a weak motor. Come to think of it it could be a bad switch as well. So if the motor doesnt work, check for power to the motor.

so far ive pretty much ruled out at bad switch because ive had someone hold the wipers on before then i went and gave them a little push and i could feel them get "unstuck" (lack of a better word), then they simply started back up again, now theyre completely frozen. we'll see tomorrow lol

That sounds like a motor to me.

problem solved (for now)... I took off the seal and cover, and got to the transmission. since it was only me working on it i had to turn on the wipers then quickly run to see if i could get it to budge. with some help it moved, so i went back and turned them off, tested them again., and they worked, (p.s., i took the wipers off before even touching the switch). so i got some multipurpose grease and greased up the joints and it moves pretty freely now. so im happy lol
