Default Audi 2003 a6 quattro somke

Hi this is the second time in three years this happened . The temp was about 28 I started the car up drove about 3miles when I started to see blue
Smoke coming from the exhaust.Drove about another 2 miles pulled over smoke was still coming out of the exhaust. I open the hood and the same color smoke was coming from both sides of the engine looked like it was on fire and the smell was bad a burning smell. I shut it down waited about 3 min and restarted it. Still a little smoke from both areas.Shut it down again.waited 5 min got back on the road and nothing no smoke oil level is fine coolant level is good.I did take the car on an open road after all this opened it up turbos kicked in Car runs fine. At no time did the engine light come on. Anyone have any ideas I am at a loss..............

Have you had the valve covers changed on this car?

The smell of the smoke was like the seats were on fire not a oil burning smell more of a material burning smell.

I see you have posted this again as a new thread.

Blueish smoke is most certainly oil burning, but from where is the question. It's a very distinct smell, and I doubt there's something inside the cabin burning to create this smell.

What engine is in your A6?

My guess is that only the valve cover gaskets were done, and not the rest of the gaskets when you say they were done about a month ago. Depending on where you took it to they probably just did the outer (and if you're lucky!) the inners as well. There are several other gaskets that are normally swapped out when doing a complete valve cover gasket job.

Furthermore, if you have a turbo (As in the 2.7T, which actually has two) then you may have failing turbos. There's another member on here who has about 220k on his 2.7T and his turbos only recently developed leaks but are still going strong. I have about 130,000 on mine and I don't suspect my turbos leaking. I did however mess up my passenger side valve cover and will re-do the gasket when it's not -5F out this spring! In the mean time I'll endure the occasional smell and watch my oil level.

But seriously though, I'm going to go ahead and say the valve cover job was either half assed or something wasn't changed like it should have.
