Default Audi a6 2.7t running absolutely terribly :(

Hello,
I have a 6spd 2.7t a6 quattro, i love the car...when it runs right.
My problem- CEL came on (this problem seems intermittent), car is down on power, runs rough at idle (sometimes), sounds like its overboosting, the top of my intake box (mating pieces) seems to pop off at times as cause the car to run a muck. I've had a similar problem to the point where it was almost undrivable, i found that the turbo in piping on driver side was popped off, all is good now, but it is a similar sensation when driving/at idle. I've replaced the plugs, air filter, mass air flow sensor and poked around here and there. Knowing just how many things it can be i'm hesitant at self diagnosing this... I ran a VAGcom scanner and got general codes of the vehicle running rich in a bank, and a or multiple misfires.

So here's what i think
1. bad diverter valves?
2. torn throttle body boot?
3. clogged catalytic converter
4 bad o2 sensor(s)?
5. bad fuel pumps?
6.bad vac lines?
7. bad coolant temp sensor?? (i saw on another thread..maybe?)
8. any ideas?

PLEASEEEE help, i'm getting tired of losing races to rice burners :,(

Thanks ahead of time

I'm not good with turbo's and racing :P .. however I might have 1 idea:

8. Have you played around with the coil packs? There have been a lot of people having trouble with them in pretty much all models until 2006 or later. They are not too darn expensive and anybody can replace them. Depending on what condition they are in, they can cause a lot of things (lack of power, misfiring, etc).

Depending on how old the codes were you pulled they could have been generated from when the piping popping off.
You should clear the codes, drive around, pull the codes and post them here. It might help pinpoint the issue better.

I forgot to add that, it could very well be. Would bad coil packs really affect the car's running this much? Seems quites drastic, i have a feeling for some reason that it's linked to air/intake. I mean it's so simple but we all know how picky Audis are. I'd say torn TBB is another flaw on the A6's (at least before 2001)

My coil packs on the 4.2 (no turbo - NA engine) have not misfired but acceleration was so bad it felt like the car lost 100hp and gained it just by replacing those suckers. However it is very likely that you might be facing other problems as well, which is why I said it would be helpful to get the exact errors codes after cleaning them and driving around.

I had one coil go bad at 186k and it threw a blinking CEL and shook the car like a cobblestone street even though I was at idle. I had all six replaced under recall and it has been fine for the last 20k miles. If you email me at jjaiven@chartermi.net, I can send to you the recall.

I am having a similar issue with my 01 2.7t. I just changed my MAF today... the jerking is less noticeable but there is no power when I try to get on it. I will try to look at the intercooler piping to start next and check back.
