Audi A6 2.7t Timing belt Replacement issues
So, I am replacing the timing belt on my audi, but the person who took off the belt before did not mark it properly, now i need to figure out which piston is #1 and which is #6 or any other way to zero the engine timing so that i can put the belt on.
Does anyone have any insight or suggestions for this?

first, Willkommen to the forums!
second, as to your problem, sheesh. If the cam sprockets have not been removed, simply align the sprockets so that the "wings" are perfectly parallel with the ground, and the large holes are to the outside. The cam locking bar can be helpful in this instance.
indexing the crank can be a bit more problematic. there is a window on the crank timing belt cover and a tick mark on the crank pulley. I'm assuming these have been removed to facilitate the timing belt installation. Cylinder 1 is the passenger side front. At TDC cylinder #3 should be at full extension.
hope this helps

WHat I did was score a line into the crank cover perpendicular to the base of the engine. I also painted marks on the cams and timing belt. Then counted the teeth in between the painted marks and applied the belt. Not very elegant or efficient, but it worked.
