Default Audi a6 rear fog lights!!

I wired my other Audi a6 rear fog light so they both work and put blue bulbs in the sockets to dim them down a bit so they dont look like brake lights. I can come up with the wiring for anyone and the socket you need for it for about 40.00 if anyone is interested.

hmm...that actually doesn't look too bad with the fog lights the same brightness as the regular tail lights. how involved was it to do? might be a good one for the DIY forum if you have a nice writeup of it.

If you make it so that the fog lights look like the rear tail lights, haven't you defeated the safety purpose of the fog lights?

IMHO, best thing to do with rear fog lights is pull the fuse. Can't tell you how pissed I get when I see bright fog lights in the rain. That happened a lot more when I lived in England because every car has to have them, it rains all the time, and it seemed no one understood the purpose.

Use them in FOG only, when you are concerned about someone not being able to see the rear of your car as they approach. Once they have got to where they can see your regular lights, switch the fogs off please!

Sorry for the rant - glad you figured out how to eliminate one more set of fog lights!

I've had to use them in white-out snow storms here and I'm glad to have them. I wouldn't dim them at all. Sometimes with the snow and wind blowing, I can't see the front end of my car. The good news is that anyone ahead of me is riding their brakes so I see the dim red glow in time. Thank you, quattro.

sorry, slightly off topic, but when i park my car and leave the lights on and rear fogs on i went and checked and they are both on and i'm sure no one has every modified my car. it also says my ownsers manual that only one rear fog would come on but both of them do, any idea why?

Kevin, I never had a problem in anything I have driven in my life that needed more lights on the rear to warn people of me in front of them. Just a neat quick nice looking mod to do to the car.

loach1, That is why I explained that I dimmed them down to match the other tail lights. they will not be mistaken for brake light now......

jholty: the reason both of yours come on is because you have a 02.. in 02 and newer they made both of them come on. in europe it would only be one.. but mine only came with one and mines a 99 and i just picked up a ford bulb socket and cut out the hole and wired it up and it looks great. i also made my front and rear fogs independent. i love using them when people ride me.
