My local dealer charges 11.00 + tax for a generic cut key.

If you want a full key with transponder and all it is $220 at the dealership I work at. If you want just the valet key (no buttons just a key) or a wallet key for a back-up it becomes much cheaper.

I bought one on ebay for $10. I was told by an Audi owner that it can be reprogrammed at the dealership. If he's wrong, I spent $10. If he's right, I made out big time. I've since made an "in" at a Audi dealership. Haven't asked about the reprogramming yet.

The hardest part is getting the key cut. Re-programming the key is as easy as reading the manual.

Actually if your Audi is a 2002 or newer you need the SKC in order to reprogram the new blade so your Audi sees it as a "friendly" and usable key. Otherwise the stealership will have to reprogram the chip in your key fob. I think I will have to spend the $70 to get mine done which blows There is no way of finding out the code as well....
