Default Battery light comes on

My battery light randomly turns on when I start the car (2000 A6 4.2),after I rev the engine around 2000 rpm the light goes off and voltage goes from 12V to 14V. Has anyone seen this problem before? I'm hoping there's an easy fix before I replace the alternator.

thanks

get your battery tested, if the load test comes out fine, then the battery light usually point to R&R the alternator (in my past experiences).I would juststart with the battery first, since its just cheaper andeasier to replace

Alternator belt. Or, alternator bushing starting to tighten up!

I recently bought a second-hand A6 with the exact same problem. Did you find a solution?

Start with the common sence testing

1) Check for codes
2) Get a multimeter and test the batter with the car off, does it show 12v or less
3) Test with Car on, does it now show 14v?
4) Chances are the alternator will need to be replaced. Not that expensive and usually an hour or so labour for an installation
