Never - I repeat NEVER say shut-up, or please be quite because the whinningwill increase to a point where theoffending part will have to be removed from the vehicle forever. But then seat covers can replaced.

Sprayed wd40 into the motor (a little plastic cap gives you access). Stopped the bird for about two months. Sprayed it again with Lithium grease spray. Another couple months of silence. I just used some good old black grease using a syringe to inject it. Next, I guess I'll go ahead an pay the $450 for the new motor.
After 20 + years and two kids, I can ignore the sounds from the seats, butI can hear the squeak even with the radio up.

Fortunatly my wife falls asleep shortly into a long drive. So, just as the motor and gearbox is nicely warmed up, I can enjoy driving the Audi.... as long as the road is not too bendy...
