Block heater
on my 2001 A6 i can't find the block heater cord. If the car was fitted with a block heater were would the cord come out from? The car is not new to cold weather and surely there must be some sort of heater. it is gonna be -30c this weekend and we need the car... someone please help.

If your worried about it..which I wouldn't be..You can buy an aftermarket block heater which have silicone pads that clip onto the block and then you can plug it in. I think your coolant should be good past -40F..Anybody else know the temp threshold on the coolant?

I asked the same question about my 2000 4.2. Its been very cold in Calgary this week and I was worried about cold starts. I called the dealer and they said Audi's don't have block heaters. Then he went and rambled off some reason like the cars fire right away and bla bla coils bla bla dont need it bla. I couldn't hear to well on my cell so I don't have the proper explaination.

He was probably talking about fuel injection. With a carborator the fuel tends to not want to vaporize when its cold out. Ever try to start a carborated car/snowblower when its cold out. The heater helps with the vaporization. The injectors do a pretty good job of vaporizing the fuel so a heater isnt nesessary.
