Question body part question

hi all,

I am new to the forum and new to Audi's as well. I have spent a lot of time reading the posts on here while deciding weather to embark on the German car journey. I know other cars very well but not audi's and this intimidates me. But, after I drove one the risk was worth the reward. So, Last night I bought a 2001 A6 2.7T automatic and I got it for a great deal and the reason that I got it for a good deal is because it has some rear end body damage. I have been searching but cannot seem to find out what you call the lamp cover that goes around the license plate. What is this and where can I get a new one?(yes, I know I can go to the dealership but somewhere that might be less expensive) Actually, I need a few basic parts( woodgrain insert on passenger side dash, passenger taillight, and whatever you call the plastic insert in the rear bumper on the bottom). Any recommendations as to where I can get quality parts at a discount would be great. I am sure that you will be hearing from me a lot, I already had the check engine light come on this morning on the way to work when I accelerated on the on ramp. hopefully this isn't a sign of things to come.

Thanks

Welcome!
As you mentioned, you've done plenty of readings here before taking your decision to buy an Audi.
As you might noticed most of us are consumed keeping the cars on the road and battle the maintenance bills.
I’d suggest you do research on parts starting with the dealer and ending in the scrap yards. The described issues affect cosmetics field and should be a reason for concern at a point of sale.

MIL on accelerating? => could be ignition malfunctioning or the TC failure. The latest introduces steep bill for fixing.

Start obtaining some code reader – a must for an Audi owner.
Good luck!

Try googling "audi used parts" to find a local salvage yard which has your model.

the car has right at 100,000 miles. The one fortunate thing about this purchase is that I have a complete warranty on the vehicle if anything does have to be replaced within 6000 miles or six months. Also, pardon my ignorance but what exactly is a TC? Thats not short for TurboCharger is it? I am taking the car into the shop today to do a full checkout of ECU, drivetrain, etc. so I will have a better assessment of anything that is wrong with the vehicle.

If you've been reading a lot of posts here you would have seen many people mentioning Shokan and Force Five for new and used Audi parts

Thanks, ill take a look. I actually haven't seen these mentioned but I really only read the posts that involved mechanical issues with the car and not really anything else.

I use Force Five for new and used parts in most cases because they have treated me great and it saves a bundle.
