Default Boost Leak Testing Procedures

I would like to boost leak test my A6. In searching the forum, I could not find instructions for doing this on an A6 2.7T. There is a good write-up on how to do this on an A4:

http://www.a4mods.com/index.php?page=webcontent/pages/boostleak.html

When testing for leaks, can you pressurize the system anywhere after the filter box? Maybe this is naive, but it seems to me that you could disconnect and plug the TBB (or the two pipes going into it) and then pressurize the system right after the filter box. Then listen for leaks.

Any advice?

Thanks daroshi for the reply. I followed these instruction this morning and I'm having trouble presurizing my system. When I turn the air on, I'm hearing a bubbling sound and air leaking sound that seems to be coming from the engine. With the oil cap off, the noise is louder. The system does not pressurize to 5psi even.

I did remove the PCV connection and capped it off.

bump.. In several attempts, I have tried to pressurize my system from the intake y-pipe as described in:

http://www.awe-tuning.com/media/pdf/...ure_tester.pdf

but I cannot get the system to hold pressure. When I begin to put air into the system, there is an air flowing noise and a bubbling noise coming from engine. The bubbling sound, I'm guessing, is oil as the sound is definintely originating from the bottom of the engine, all the way forward (i.e. oil pan). That said, I can get the system to pressurize if I push more air in. By increasing the pressure at my regulator, the system will pressurizefor shorter time periods until the leak or air flow that I'm hearing inside the motor relieves the pressure.

Also, when I do get the pressure up,the two smaller connections (the end opposite of the air box) on the intake Y-tube begin to leak air quite readily. These are hoses clamped to the Y-tube using the stock ear clamps. Perhaps I need to secure those up withnew hose clamps to get better results.

Is this normal? Has anyone here done this on a 2.7T? I'm hoping that someone out there might give me some insight here.

TIA.
