Check your brake fluid level.

Your ABS electronics have packed up. Just fixed mine, same symptoms.

I would pull codes first, there could be some other causes.
I have a VagCom, and I pulled these codes:
18014/P1606/005638 - Rough Road/Engine Torque Signal from ABS: Electrical Malfunction
01203 - Electrical Connection between ABS and Instrument Cluster

It was my ABS module. I sent it off to ModuleMaster and had it rebuilt. The car is drivable without the module, make sure you bag the connectors and cover the exposed ABS pump face.
Removing the pump involves pulling the left front wheel, pull back the fender liner, drop the washer bottle (drain it first!) then remove the module.
The hardest part is the washer bottle.

The warning light that comes on says "Brake" right next to it is the Air bag light. The ABS light is not on so thats why im wondering if it could just be a bad sensor

Could be fluid level, brake switch, wear sensor, etc. You need to pull codes I think.

Smile Brake Issues

HI, Before you spend a wad of money on parts you may not need...I would first check the small inexpensive things first. I'm assuming the "Brake" icon you are refering too is the same RED one that comes on when the parking brake is on. I would first check the fluid, and if all is fine you may have air in the brake lines and should try bleeding the brakes. These two things are minor and can easily be taken care of by a novice mechanic with simple tools, a friends help and can be done inexpensively in your garage or driveway.
I had the same issue occur after installing new pads and rotors about a year ago. After bleeding my brakes and topping off the brake fluid resovoir the light and flashing cleared itself and I have had no further issues. Good Luck with it...hopefully it will be an inexpensive fix P.S. My car is also a 2.7T 2003
