Default Brake light

I changed my brakes on my 99 A6 Quattro, but the light is still on. How do I get rid of this?

Well we'll get the obvious out of the way: did you make sure to reconnect the brake pad sensors when putting the brakes in? (and this assumes you got brakes with the sensor in them)

Well, actually, I only changed the rear brakes; the front brakes seem fine, but there were no sensors in the back.

Well, then perhaps the sensor in the front is going off. If there was no sensor in the back than it never knew that you needed pads in the back and still need them in the front.
