Question Brake pad wear indicator light

I have a 1998 A6 Quattro and just replaced the front brake pads but the wear indicator light and alarm keep coming back on. I tried to reset this by disconnecting the battery but that doesn't help. Does anyone know how to reset this annoying little pest so it will shut up until it's needed again?
Thanks to anyone who knows

The wear pad light comes on when the sensor wire is cut. Once you replace the pads and connect the new wires the light should go off. You don't need to do a reset of anykind. If the light is still on you may have gotten pads without the wires, didn't connect the wires, or one was cut during installation.

Default brake light

the sensor in the brake pads turns the light off, the sensor has came unpluged or the wire was not routed properly and is broken or pinched somewhere.

Idiot? No need for that.

And to recap, check the wire!

Thanks guys. I appreciate your input. I did change the pads to new ones that do have sensor wires. I did connect them but it's possible that a connector on one wheel might have come loose. I will pull the wheels and check it again.
Again many thanks for your replies and let's be kind to one another. We have enough cussing in German, to do at our cars from time to time and they don't really care.
Haben sie ein guten tag
