I have a 2006 A6 with 27K on it. I had it in for the 25K service today and they told me I needed brakes and rotors front and rear, said they couldn't be turned. Is that to be expected at 27K? Is this a big job to do yourself? I've done rotor before on other cars but have no idea about an A6.

Thanks.

from what i understand from talkin to a local mech its no diff than changing pads on rotors on a reg car... but make sure you ahve the right pads ( for the cars sensors) and the proper tools to push back the pistons in the calipers

27K and you need new brakes front and rear???? Something is wrong.. You should get twice that on the fronts and 3-4 times that on the rears - unless you ride around with your foot on the brake. Get a second opinion before spending the money.

Default brake pads and rotors

Thanks for the reply. The drive is pretty easy and no riding the brake. I am getting a second opinion. The dealer wanted (can't remember exactly) something $600 for front and $800 for rear (with rotors). If needed I'll do them myself.

Thanks

So can anyone recommend a good brand of brake pads for a 2006 A6?

Thanks.

Thanks. You said just had them done so you didn't do them yourself? How about rotors?
From what someone else said to do these is pretty much like any other car?

That is a pretty clear indicator of warped rotors... could bewheel balancing or alignment but ide get the rotors checked first.
