Default Buying 2003 2.7t Quattro...Help

Hi All,

Just a bit of some back ground. I'm actually a corvette guy i have owned a couple, my last one i had modded to 615 RWP. Btt my current situtation does not allow for me to have one with me getting married etc..(she won't let me have two cars and i would need aw inter beater)

Anyways i love all cars and had purchased a 2002 Mercedes c240 with 61k from a MB dealer back in Feb 07, not realizing how horrible of a winter car its going to make...so i am trading it in....i own it....

So I have two candidates i have narrowed it down too.

1). A 2004 Mercedes ML500 5.0 V8 AWD Auto288hp 325tq, 63k miles, This car is MINT beyond MINT, stills smells new. The dealer will give me 12,700 for my trade and 22,500 for the truck, 3 year 36000 mile bumper to bumper and high tech electrical + emissions part warranty. Payments would be 270/m for 60 months

2). a 2003 Audi A6 2.7 Twin Turbo AWD 6speed 250hp, 258tq, 43k miles. This car is not as mint as the MB buts it still its really really nice great condition. 5 year or 100000 milebumper to bumperwarratny from the miles or date of purchase with all high end electrical and emissions parts and radio parts etc.. Sale price on this is 21,999 12,000 for my trade 263/m for 60 months

I love the MB and I like SUV's. But i get bored of trucks when it comes to summer.

I loved driving the A6, so much fun love the 6spd and its AWD..

I already ready a bunch on the mercedes and it got an average user rating of8.5 on Edmunds

Is there anything i should check for or ask about the A6 2.7 TT? Any advise at all?

Well since you are on the Audi forum, most here would say get the A6. I love mine. The six speed is nice.

Both are nice cars, no doubt about that. The m-class mercedes are very reliable and have proven themselves after their first years(98&99) were pretty troublesome. I deal mostly with german cars in the used car market and have owned about any kind of german car. I have been driving audi's as my dailey drivers for a couple years and love them but I think in the long run the mercedes will be a better family vehicle and probably less costly to repair with less problems.....Im not saying the Audi is going to have problems but it will require more maintance than the mercedes. The audi is more fun to drive, and the 6 speed makes it even better but the mercedes is not dull either, for an 'suv' it handles great and the 500 has the big motor in it compared to the ml320, those things really move. I guess it all comes down to personal prefrence, which one you would prefer driving everyday. just my thoughts.....

M Class, is by far the worst car in reliability. Don't believe me, just check JD Power reports for the last four years. No wonder, you can get MLs for so less. Stick with Audi, it pure German craftmanship.

The chip will make a big difference in hp and acceleration. And it's a lot cheaper than the price difference between the two cars.

The 2.6tt is agreat motor if its been taken care of. And is easily modable while sustaining longevity. Personally, I can't stand the ML. Its not a I dont like mercedes thing, I just don't like the ML. I don't like how they look, or ride. And the ML isn't as good in the winter as a lot of their sedans.... Bad personal experiance. lol. I would say the 2.6 but take it on a test drive and go to audi and get a diagnostic, make sure the engine is ok first.

So you lost what, like $6000 between trading in your car and buying through a dealer? Good choice.
