Default Buying a 98' A6 2.8 sedan?

1998 Audi A6 2.8 sedan with 130,000K, there asking $6,200. They say it has all maintenance done and it looks to be in about perfect condition.
What should i look for in the car and is this a good deal?
Also what is the life expectancy (mileage wise) on one of these?

Thanks,
Jacob

I am driving the same model/year.

1. checkthe CV joint and Tie Rod End of each wheel- if tore, change it $

2. cold start & check tranny shock and hesitation- if so, tranny fluid change needed $350

3. remove 3 engine top covers & check leak - if so, change gaskets $

4. check the powersteering fluid tank hoses - if olied, change two hoses $

2.8 is one of thefill & go engine if you maintain properly.

I guarantee it will go up 300k mi.

Price is pretty decent. Thats about right for the mileage. Hey, also check to see if they had the belt replaced as they should have about 30k ago.

You might look around a bit more and get the quattro one. They go for the same price and its really the crowning achievement of Audi.

I don't either really but I do find that the quattro version handles much better than the 2wd version. The weight distribution is better and in the rain, I can (with caution) still drive and maintain alot of grip the 2wd never had even in the dry. Just a thought. Either way the gas mileage will be about the same and the reliability will be about the same.

If you want much more power and more ability to modify for more power you can purchase a 2.7T....found one in your area under $7,000...Alot more maintenance issues though. More money to maintain. The 2.8 doesn't require much maintenance. http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...;car_year=2000

Thats the only quattro one I could find though. The other was apurple 2.8 2wd for $6,200 (probably the same one you were looking at).

yeah the purple one is the one im looking at and i like it alot.... i do think i could talk the guy down a good bit bc i have $$cash$$. I'm not going to be able to afford alot of maintenance which is why i like to hear that the 2.8 does not require alot of it.
I'm going to call the guy tomorrow i guess and see what he has to tell me. mean while i will be on the look out for a quattro.
Do they make the 2.8 in a quattro?
