Default A/C Blower Problem

I have a strange problem with the A/C blower on my 1998 A6 Quattro. The blower will just stop, intermittently. The dash display indicates that the blower is running full speed, but it's not. It will just as unexpectedly start again on it's own. The problem seems to be worse in hot weather (of course). Nothing I can do (with the A/C controls) will restart it until it decides to start on it's own. The compressor and everything else seems to act normally. Anyone have any ideas on what can cause this? Thanks.

Yes, I have the solar sunroof .... what is the problem? How to fix?
I live in Mexico, and have to get parts from the USA, so it's important that I get the right part. My wife is making a trip north next week, so she could bring the part back. It would also help immensely if you could give some instructions on the repair, so I can tell my local mechanic. The dealerships down here are very impressive, but useless in fixing things.
Thanks auditech79 for the response!

You need to change the solar sunroof relay thats behind the panel under the steering wheel. Its a 6 pin relay that should be labled 385. Part number is 8B0 959 589, its called a control unit by audi parts and it costs around $100.

Just to make sure you know what i mean by a solar sun roof, it has a solar panel built into it, not just a plain moonroof.

Do you know where I might find this part online? I've tried all the usual places with no success.

I called an Audi dealer, and they told me the correct part number is 4B0 959 589 (not 8B0 959 589) .... is this right?
Thanks for all your help

If they say its a 6 pin relay and its for the solar sunroof then its the correct relay. The one i have is an older one i replaced a long time ago so they could have changed the numbers or updated it. I'll see if i can take a pic of it later and post it.

Default Solved!

Thanks Auditech ... the relay solved the problem. It would have been impossible for anyone here in Mexico to have found that problem. Thanks again!
