Default C5 2000 A6 4.2L -- Help needed

My indy repairman informed me the plastic post connecting a butterfly valve (in one of the variable induction control valves) is broken and needs replacing..he also said the dealer would only sell an entire valve (about $200).

Is there a way to get just the plastic piece/arm?

Do I need to get one of the 2 valves?

Do I have to go to a junkyard?

Am I out of luck?

He printed out a drawing from AllData (piece #A24-0246). From that I found/edited a nice photo from the net which shows the piece (see attached--it's a bit blurry, sorry--red circle is around the piece and the yellow line runs along the actual piece)

Do you need the straight arm from the vacuum motor to the butterfly valve arm OR the butterfly valve arm that the staright arm connects to? If the straight arm, a couple of rod ends from Pegasus and some threaded rod should do the trick (and look cool to boot!). If the butterfly valve arm, I would try glueing (yes, glue, as in Epoxy or Gorilla) the old part back together (assuming you have the pieces) then reinforcing the repair with some thin sheet metal over the end (like and end cap) glued and perhaps screwed onto the arm. You should do this yourself to relieve the mechanic of responsibility, which he isn't going to want to take.

junkyard, epoxy, craigslist and even buying the needed ball sockets and some all thread.

I believe I need the rod from the butterfly to the vacuum motor..

From what I've found, it should be called the Intake Manifold Linkage Arm (gruvenparts.com sells billet pair for $80+)..but there are variations on that name.

i tried to locate on ebay and failed..great idea to look on craigslist..

Intake Manifold Tuning Valve is a part of Intake Manifold Tuning System.
Part of the German engineering concepts.

Same on 2,8 and 4.2

Hardly any difference if it is non -operational

Soon all of them will start to fail one by one. I would get out now while it still runs.
