Default Can't close (lock) the trunk

When I close the trunk the lock won't snap. I looked under the red lamp where the automatic opener is located, and that one moves OK when I push the key ring middle button.

Can this be an electrical problem? Anybody who has seen this before?

Anyone who knows how to unmount the parts covering the trunk lock?

You need a trunk latch my friend. The electrical part of the latch has been going out on our sedans for as long as i can remember and we still have problems with them on the 07's.
You need to pop off the trunk lid trim, un-bolt the two 10mm nuts and pop the two cables off of it and your home free.

Mine seems to be on its way out also. A little wd40 seems to be keeping it going for a little while longer. Really annoying though when it doens't close. It's like leaving your door open. Just inviting those thieving folks.... [:@]

I was about to post a HELP on this same subject. Just yesterday, my trunk would not latch anymore. I have to really - really SLAM it to get it close and even then it doesnt register as closed.

Its only been a day since this problem started but its driving me nuts! I hate little problems like these on cars. My wife keeps telling me my Audi is junk - it doesnt even have agood cupholder - and now the trunk wont even close. DoH!

So by removing the wire connections - that does what? What feature do I loose? Some automatic lock feature?

Uh im not gonna agree with Dave this time you can try to adjust the striker upwards, but you said if you slam it really hard and it will latch right? You also said that when you get it lached the cluster says that it isn't closed correct? Thats the micro switch inside the latch thats malfunctioning not the adjustment and 9 times out of 10 its the trunk latch not the striker, well at least on american models anyway.

I went through the same problem. I posted a site for parts and diagrams, etc. Read this thread:
