Default Car phone question...

i'm just curious about my a6. did all the 2000 a6's come with the R/T and little phone buttons on the steering wheel even if they weren't equiped with the in car phone? i'm just curious because mine has these buttons and i'm curious whether or not mine has a phone (or bluetooth compatability) and i just haven't known about it this entire time. the R/T button is on the lower left and the button with the phone picture on it is on the lower right, just in case anyone was confused.
thanks,
mike

It is an old analog setup, and the premium package A6 came with the pre-wiring for the setup. Today, I doubt you'd find an analog phone or a wireless carrier to handle that. It is not bluetooth, but at least you are pre-wired for the oem microphone. There is a DB25 connector in the trunk, upper left of the tool tray which is where the phone module would connect.

I suppose that you could upgrade to the OEM bluetooth, but it would requier a few more upgrades to really make that work.

If you really want BT connectivity in your car, consider an aftermarket Parrot or Motorola BT kit unless you want to invest spend more $$ and go all the way.

I really like the analog phone setup in my A6. Recently I received a notice of analog phone service is going away. Am I completely screwed or are there any options for upgrading the system to digital?? New here and any help is greatly appreciated.

the phone has to be changed for starters then you need hands free setup ( blue tooth is good for now ) because you can buy a radio that support it and its linked to the radio speakers

Thanks for the quick response. Pardon me ignorance, but all I need is a bluetooth phone and a hands-free kit and I will be back in business? I spent so much time entering my phone book into the car and would hate to loose access to all of that.
