Car stalls/loses acceleration esp uphill
The car started to have this problem a couple months ago. It used to only be when I was going over 75 mph. I could ease up on the gas, the check engine light would stop blinking and the choking would stop. However, I would still lose acceleration or have no ability to give the car gas up hills.
Then as time went on the mph that I could actually reach was less and less. Now I can barely keep the car running. If it dies I have to wait 15 mins before I can start it up and actually drive it more than a block.
I do have an oil leak which is very minimal. Once a month I put a quart in. This leak seems to be leaking at the top rear of the engine. No check oil light comes on, however. There is no white, blue or even gray/black smoke coming out of my exhaust. I smell no antifreeze or anything else inside the car. There have been two incidences now, the last two times I've driven it and it's died, where the temperature warning light came on. Yet my temp gauge was normal. There is a carbon matter that's built up at the tip of two spark plugs, but they've been tested and are firing, but not getting enough power to fully execute maybe? Someone said possibly an intake or vacuum leak somewhere. Another suggested fuel pump or filter, but my filter is fairly new.
Any suggestions of what this problem might be, would be helpful!!
Thanks

A blinking CEL means that the engine is misfiring. An engine is much more prone to misfire while pulling hard (pulling up hill). Just because plugs fire when tested does not mean that they will fire under load in the engine.
Causes for misfire:
1) Ignition problems: plugs, plug wires, coils
2) Lean fuel mixture: bad pump, bad regulator, clogged filter, crimped fuel line, clogged injectors, bad engine management sensors (o2, MAP, MAF, etc.).
3) Low compression due to mechanical damage, or excessive wear
4) Clogged exhaust (bad cat, muffler, ect)
5) Stuck open EGR valve
Get the car scanned, there should be some active and stored trouble codes that can help to identify the problem.

Ok thanks for the info. It was mentioned that it could be a few of those things. The hard part is finding a place that has the proper scanner tool (OBD 1.5) without spending crazy diagnostic fees at the dealer.
Thanks again.
