Default catalytic converter Bosal

Hi had a error code P0432 and cat converter is making ratting noise. Bank 2 is driver side.

Changed cat with Bosal direct fit 099 220 part number and check engine light is off after 30miles of driving as my mechanic vag com is not working.

all is well until I was crossing speed bumper :-(

observed that new bosal catalytic conveter is little lowerthan orginal one with reduced ground clearence.

this will sure cause soon or later what to do now, I have to lift and see is there any space to push it in and increase ground clearance.

Do anyone had similar issues after replacing catalytic converter??

need some expert advice to fix it :-(

Mine were not direct fit, the mechanic used Magnaflow and they were hacked (wielded in) and as far as I can tell, my ground clearance has not changed. Wish I could be of more assistance.

By any chance did universal cat turned off CEL??

My mechanic suggested it will not so we went with direct fit.

My cats never set a CEL. My cats were actually fine (replaced once under warranty at 79k) and at ~170k I drove into one to many snow banks and busted my flex pipes off at the cat. So I needed new cats only because of where the flex pipes broke. But my hacked in cats have not given me any issues in the 5-7k since they've been installed.

Are you able to bend them up and out of the way? Maybe take a pic and post it so others can see the issue and might be able to offer advice if they can see it. Who knows though.

Here's what mine looks like.

Here is the pic, observe the new cat is little tilted than the orginal one reducing ground clearence.

One of my friend suggested to cut cat alone tilt it and then reweld the same. It may reduce ground clearance but wanted your inputs and also how much does it cost??

Or do you think its better to contact Bosal?? If anyone have contact numbers that would be great.

That's not right (not that I didn't believe you). I would contact Bosal and see what they say. They probably won't do anything since it's already been installed, but it is certainly worth calling and complaining. If they won't help, just cut it and weld it in place correctly. I can't remember exactly how much I paid (years of drug abuse) but it was either 5 or $600.00 parts & labor for both cats. I'd imagine paying someone to hack in in place couldn't cost more than a hundred dollars.

I have to replace my 2003 3.0 A6 cats. How does the universal cats work if they have no plug for the oxygen sensor?
Any suggestions on what's best to do for my case?

AudiMax - Are you saying that your BOSAL catalytic converter replacement did NOT work and your check engine light is STILL on? I want to know because I was considering getting this bosal cat to save money on my repair.

And also,

Jeffla - with your welded in place cats, they were probably what... $150-250 each... you have not thrown any check engine lights? Did you Oxygen Sensor ports still remain there on the pre and post cat pipes? Or are you not running any o2's??
