Changed oil cooler o-ring and it still leaks.
I changed it on my 96 and well it still leaks slightly, not as near as bad as before but still very slightly and it bothers me. Who else has a leak here, I now its common but is it not fixable.
I switched from regular oil over to full synthetic and I know that this can cause leaks to happen but is it the oil and would it not leak if it was regular oil. I tightend the oil filter shaft first and then tightend the nut, I also put a thin layer of silicone around the outer edge of the gasket and it didn't leak at all after I fixed it till about today and that was yesterday, is it becuase the gasket got hot and shrunk and it needs to be retightend. What do you guys think. |

which side of the oil cooler is it leaking?? you might not have the O ring seated properly

RE: Changed oil cooler o-ring and it still leaks.
You can't seat it wrong, the old one had a rounded side and a flat side.
The new one is rounded on both sides so it didn't matter how to seat it. It also was snug on the oil cooler so I don't get it. |
