Check Engine Light

Check Engine Light
Merging to fast lane I accelerated hard
Got the Check engine light steady.
Scanned with VAG-COM=> the only DTC were for misfire – intermittent.
(Misfire DTC are present always previously w/o CEL on).
Clearing the DTC reset the CEL.
I’ve received CEL for a moment during hard acceleration before, nothing steady.
Is the steady CEL result of misfire (in my case)?
Is it common to have misfire related intermittent DTC often/always?
Any opinions please?

RE: Check Engine Light
The first thing to do when you get a CHECK ENGINE LIGHT is to open the hood and make sure the engine is there. Next get out your trusty VAGCom and get the codes.
From your post I think you did both -- Good work!!
As for intermittent mis-fire- As you know it happend once in a while without setting a code, but when it gets bad enough the CEL goes on. It sounds like it is time to do a tune-up - plugs and wires -- a bit of fuel injector cleaner - wash your hands and face, comb your hair, put on clean cloths and you will beready to visit your favorite girl.

RE: Check Engine Light
Your confused?? How about us? We are typing this drivial stuff.
As for meaningful posts -- You asked for input aboutan intermittent misfirecheck engine light. I suggestedyou need a tune-up that includes plugs, wires, and injector cleaner. When these go bad or get weak theyusually cause a misfire.Intermittent misfire means it happens once in a while. The CEL might flash but not lock on if there are a few misfires but a bunch will certainly turn it on. Your hard acceleration gave you a bunch, thus turning the light on. If you choose to ignore the light by continuing to turn it off, one rainy day the thing won't start and you'll be on here asking why. The CEL will either be off (no Codes) or show intermittent misfires.
You gave no information about your car such as year, mileage, motor, etc so all we could do was give you some basic info. We threw in the fun stuff for free.
