The only thing you can really chip on a 4.2 is the tranny. Chipping the ECU will not produce anywhere near the gains you see on the 2.7T because the 4.2 is naturally asperated -- nothing to boost!

So what are options for boosting performance (not that it needs much) of a 2006 A6 4.2 with air suspension. I can't find a transmission chip for that year, and even if I did, I'm not sure what it would do..............

Thanks again.

Here's the URL for the GIAC chip. Gives you a few extra HP. Biggest improvements you can do are in the area of suspension: H-Sport anti-sway bars (great bang for buck), coilovers, upgrade of wheels & tires (these last two dependent upon where you are now), exhaust.

You're not really going to pick up more power -- most people focus on suspension or cosmetics.

Where's the URL? Can't find a chip for a 2006 anywhere.

Oops. Sorry about that. Here's the URL: GIAC 4.2 chip for 2000-2002

No coverage for your 2006.

Bummer. Would an exhaust mod provide any tangible value or gain in performance?

Biggest gain/value would be sound -- maybe a few HP.

What do I have to do to install the chip? Should I have an Audi dealer do it?
