I was told I was need to replace the mass air flow sensor for $300 insatlled. I would like to clean it first and see if that fixes it. How do I clean the sensor and what cleaner should I use.
Thanks

They actually have a MAF sensor cleaner. You will need a security torx bit, which is a torx bit with a hole in the center to remove the MAF. Just take out the screws and shoot it with the cleaner. Wait for it to dry before you put it back in.

300 is way to high do a little searching online auto parts warehouse has them for 65.00 you have to pay 76.00 additional for a total of 150.00 but you get your 76.00 back when you send them back the core. you can also clean them with rubbing alcohol and a Ziploc bag.

I just used a set of locking pliers around the head of each torx screw :-D Also, the MAF Cleaning stuff worked awesome for me! cleared up the codes that were coming up (i think it was system to rich/lean).

Have you noticed that Shokan wants like $5 less than a new part for everything. I found a cup holder brand new for 35 delivered and they wanted 45 plus shipping for a used one. A little greedy up there in Woodchuck, NY.
