Default Climate Control is defaulting it's temp to Celsius

Did some searching around months ago and discovered that you can toggle the Climate Control's display from Fahrenheit to Celsius by pressing the “air recirculation” button and the + or - buttons to toggle the temperature display format.

I was excited because for some reason my 2002 A6’s CC was constantly defaulting to Celsius.

So I’m stuck with having to toggle the output using the button shortcut (mentioned above) every time I get in my car.

*What can a brotha do to have the CC display the temp in Fahrenheit permanently?

This still happens, how can I set it to Fahrenheit permanently?

What's wrong with CC?
The smart German car is offering you the much more reasonable CC.
(Water freezes at 0, boils at 100)
Get used to!
It is just matter of time the Imperial system gets abolished.

Far from helpful, but thanks for the reply.

Same problem started about 6 months ago. Was intermittent and now permanent. I can change it back, but it's not worth the effort and I just do the math in my head: divide C-temp by 5, multiply by 9, add to 32 to get F-temp. Keeps me from getting bored on long trips. I also heard that brain exercise prevents senility. Now, what were we talking about?

Useless replies.
Question; is your "check engine" light on? If so what codes do you have? Does the check engine light come back on pretty soon after being reset?

Yes I do have a CEL, I know the code is related to the Camshaft Position sensor, and yes it can be reset but comes back soon after.

From Vag-Com...

"17936 - Camshaft Timing Adj. Bank1 (N205): Open Circuit
P1528 - 004 - No Signal/Communication"

My mechanic claims he can recode the C* to F* setting, I just haven't gone back for it, if that works I will update this thread for sure.

Interesting. My friends car that I am working on has the same symptoms (cam pos sensor code, and F goes back to C every time), as well as a "faulty ECM" code (yet the car runs great). My hunch is the ECM might be flaky, but of course thats not the kind of thing you replace "on a hunch" so I'm still mulling everything over at this point.

I think you can program it default is F or C via VAG-COM.

As stated, my A6 has been changing to celsius for over a year and there is no CEL. Could it be old age and senility in the ECU? Sure, I have 190k miles on her.
