Default Code P0346 Right Bank Cam Sensor

Newbie here- I just did the TB and cam seals on my 2002 A6 2.7T. Now I am getting a CEL with the code P0346 right bank cam sensor. I assume that the drivers side cam is off a tooth, but not 100% sure. So, if I was off a tooth would I notice anything major like rough idle, hard start, etc? The car seems to idle and run fine. Thanks!

The right side is the passenger side (unless you live in the UK, Japan or Australia). Check your electrical connection, it might have come loose.

Thanks for the reply! I stand corrected, the code reader says bank 2. That is why I think it is the drivers side.

okay so here we go again .. did you use the correct tools and crack the cams off the sprocket so when you tensioned the belt it tensioned it evenly across the whole belt and did not move your timing ?
Or did you try and cheat and then "tooth count" the belt. If you did and then tensioned it with the sproket tight the tensioner would actually move your timing as it is moving the cams.

Have the correct tools for the TB, but did try to "tooth" count the cam chain with 16 links. Have done some research it sounds like Bentley might be wrong and the count should be 15. I am guessing this is where I screwed up.

Confirmed. I was off 1 chain link on drivers side cam. Adjusted and put everything together. No Code. Woo hoo.

Kicking myself in the **** for not marking the teeth better. I thought the Blauparts instructions for changing cam seal were really good. Hardest part of the whole deal was having to do the drivers side 2x. Live and learn.
