I'm having a similar problem with my 02 2.7T. The speed will be set, but sometimes the cruise will just shut off on its own...not really sure what that's all about. There is no rhyme or reason to when it shuts off, it just does it sometimes and sometimes it'll work perfect.

well mine does the same, it almost seems like it's supposed to be working the way it does. An easy fix is to push it all the way to the permanent off and then back up - it resets everything and allows you to put in a new cruising speed.

Mine wasn't working at all until I replaced the brake switch. Careful on the installation, the instructions that come with it cause you to break it on install. Basically you press the brake pedal down, seat it, turn, and then let the brake pedal ease onto the switch plunger.

Information on the cruse control is in the BentleyPublishers.com Audi shop manual CD. I have a 1998 Audi A6 Quattro wagon with the 2.8L 2 valve AFC engine and C4 chassis. First, check for a vacuum leak in the servo diaphram and hoses, per the Bentley instructions.

The cruise control systems on our cars are very touchy on the old push stalk set ups. The 05+ A6 doesn't have this problem.
Once the system recognizes a faulty signal from the cruise control switch it will turn of the cruise feature until the key is cycled again. There really isn't a fix for this unfortunately, some say that replacing the turn signal stock fixes it. I think thats a load of crap.

I think I might actually believe that replacing the turn signal stock would work. I have noticed that using the turn signals actually generates the problem a lot of the times. At first I thought it was just a coincident, but the more I've tested it the more I've seen that the cruise will usually shut off when I use the turn signal.

I have to turn my cruise off and on a few times to get it to work. Would any of you recommend changing parts to fix this problem? I have heard different parts can be changed to remedy the issue, but I am not sure.
