Default cut springs or race springs?

I currently have a 2001 A6 I want to lower it but I am cheap and impatient... What would be the big differences between cutting my stock springs or buying H&R Race springs (29797-1 ) and spending the day installing them. I had cut the springs on my old car (MK3 Jetta) with out a problem. But it was not a quattro nor was it as heavy as my A6. Have any of you used the H&R race springs or cut your oem springs on an A6? Any input would be helpful as I plan on ordering the spring this week or cutting my springs. Thanks

Cutting your stock springs will raise the spring rate. Whether that results in an unacceptable ride is a matter of your opinion. Give it a try and let us know. The worst that can happen is you have to order the sport springs anyway.

In my whole tunning life i have never seen someone give good reviews of cut springs, nor have i seen encouragement to do so. Me myself, i would never cut the stock springs.
