I have a 1996 A6 that out of the blue will not start, power up, turn over or anything with the key on! The spring in the ignition switch is not returning after the start position so I thought it might be the ignition switch. Is there a chip in the key? When the key is turned, there are no lights on the dash, no power to any accessorys ( that work with the key). The headlights work, and the radio will come on, but these are of course are without the key. Does this sound like the ignition switch to anyone??? At first I did but then heard there was a chip in the key that gives these symptoms so I don't know. What do you think?
