Well, personally I like seeing tips, thats fair... I do wish they were about 3 inches higher into the bumper, but thats how Remus made them. If I had the face lift car it would all be better. And just so you no, it truly looks fine in person, when your eyes are 6ft above the ground, the tips apear to have a perfect fit, its just when you take pics it looks tacked on. Ive never had a negative coment from someone looking at it, but its different when I show them a picture, it shows how low they hang.

might wanna check your spelling. "no" should be "know" but i personally still think the exhaust looks wierd and silly with out it being more in the bumper.. i woulda cut into the bumper and done it right.

the mounting points and hangers on the Remus exhaust make it difficult to tuck in the bumper, especially on a non-facelift model

Haha, wow. My bad. Like OC said, thats how the Remus mufflers are designed, I guess I could have the hangers cut off and have an exhaust shop weld new ones on that would raise them, but it really isnt that big of a deal to me. Also, I dont know about the other non-facelift cars, but when I was talking to LLtek about getting some collers to run the tips through the valence, they said it wouldnt work on a 2001. All of them have a different rear bumper, even though they look the same. And sure enough, there are some plastic pieces right above the tips on mine, they cant go higher unless I cut that piece out to. If I would have known everything I know now, I would have just had an exhaust shop weld up a custom magnaflow system for about half the money, have the tips higher, and sound similar.

I know what you're talking about. the plastic under the rear bumper i think deflects wind & sound... had to cut mine off to get my magnaflow exposed

Lol, WOW! Everyone is so fricken critical here. I like the looks of it debaged. I just did mines last month as well. As far as the tips go, you spent your own money so as long as you are happy with the way it looks then it's all good. Most of these guys probably have stock exhausts anyways....

Do you know if you can buy that part pre-cut? Was it hard to cut yours to look right?

I wanted to buy a lower valence from a face lift car but it doesnt fit. What we are talking about is behind the bumper skin, you cant see it unless you get under the car. And cutting the outer plastic piece, I just used masking tape, made a nice semi circle, and used vice grips with a jig-saw blade in them to cut, very easy.

This is what I did...

i too have a pre face lift A6

i like it in the aspect of like someone said, you never know what's under the hood(or bumper ha ha ) - it's also why i almost got an APR exaust with the tips pointed down, that would not have been visible but keeps a sleeper feel, but then again i think i have better places to invest my own money like a fueling kit to complete the stage 3...

so i'm just gonna either do piggies or an electronic cutout.....if i were to get an exhaust it would have to be a RS6 like exhaust with those huge oval tips but i think piggies/electronic cutout are more performance for the money which is were im at atm haha

LLTEK
here is the lltek system that i thought would have worked for your car..as long as you dont have the backup sensors...(i do and so i don't think i'll ever have tip showin' exhaust haha unless i got that rs6 exhaust in which case i'd toss the rear parking sensors haha)

anyways nice debadge, how did you do it, and how long did it take you?
