Dead 2.7T?
I recently bought an 00 A6 2.7T. It is currently on 18' wheels on225/40/R18 Nankang NS2. It has now 84 000 miles or so, and the feeling i get from it, is that theres nothing under the hood. It roars at high rpm, but nothing follows. The advertised 6.6 seconds to 60mph is really far from even possible right now. I doubt i even get something like 8 seconds.I get easily beaten in prettymuch every single gear except4th, or 5th, by Honda Civics, Chevrolet Cavaliers and such. Leaks perhaps? Clogged Cat? What are the possibilities?
I should add that the timing belt was changed around 60 000miles.

Yeah, I agree with Joe. Check the turbos and the plumbing first. I have the samemodel and yearcar with 85K, 235-40-18 tires, 18X8.5 wheels. All I've done is add a K&N filter andI kick the hell out of those cars that you say get by you. Your car should be a lot faster than that. Good luck Man.

RE: Dead 2.7T?
Just another thought: about 10k after I chipped my 2.7T the clutch started to slip. It was minimal at first but got progressively worse over the next couplethousand miles. The symptom was the engine spooling up (the rpm's went up fast) but no power transfer to the wheels. Lots of noise and reving to redline on a few occasions. If you have an automatic, then someone with Tiptronic experience will have to comment.
The 2.7T is reasonably fast but no rocket off the line - too much weight plus awd. However with the chip, it provides impressive acceleration from, say, 60-110. It literally pushes me back in the seat when I accelerate at this speed in 4th or 5th gear.

Scan for any stored codes, & find out if your getting the boost you need. You might be in limp mode.
Most cars in limp mode is due to a big boost leak, best bets are.....
1. TBB
2. DV's
3. Popped off charge pipe
Other things off the top...
1. Dirty MAF (unplug it, drive, is the car now fast?)
2. bad CTS
3. Bad EGT, or O2's
4. Basic tune up stuff.
