Default Depo Headlights

I searched and didn't find an answer. Has anyone else had trouble with getting the right headlights from Depo. I have a 2000 A6 Quattro with the 4.2L. original headlight number of 4B0 941 003 BE. They sent me the 441-1134r-ld-em and swear they should fit. They are one inch too long, mine measure about 18 5/8 inch from outside bottom edge to inside bottom edge, the new ones measure 19 5/8. I tried for 4 and a half hours these will not fit. Any help would be most appreciated, Thanks

Well, I must be the only one to ever have trouble, anyway the V8 models do have different headlights than the V6 models.

All I can tell you that you are right. I have a 2002 4.2 and I haven't bought any headlights because they never match the majority of headlights out there for the c5. The 4.2 has a wider frame and the headlights are slightly wider as well.
Another issue is that no one seems to sell lights with the auto leveling feature from Audi, so if you replace your headlights and have that feature you will loose it.

Would the "auto leveling" feature of the lamp assembly translate into "adjust motor"?
If that's the case, then you can find them @ genuinevwaudiparts.com...spicy price, but you can find'em: $ 713/piece. Ouch...
Headlamp assy Left - V8 w/xenon - V8 w/xenon
02-04 $990.00 $712.80
Headlamp assy Right - V8 w/o xenon - V8 w/o xenon
02-04 $600.00 (MSRP price) $432.00(your price)
---------
In any case, have a look @ Depo's Products catalog for Audi.
Maybe you need 441-1194-LD-EM and the vendor sworn by a different model that's for V6?
------
Sheldon,
he says the new headlights they sent him are wider by an inch...
Did you mean to say that the v6 has a wider headlight, even though the 4.2 has a wider frame? Otherwise it makes no sense whatsoever.
If the 4.2 would have wider headlights than a V6, then what model are the even wider headlights they sent him for?

I have a 2000 and my original headlights are one inch shorter than the ones for a v6. I didn't look into any other years but a couple of other places told me that the numbers on the new ones will not fit the v8's. Mine do not have auto adjust or xenon, just plain old halogen bulbs, which was confirmed with the Audi dealer here in town. I ordered some from Hella that were supposed to fit but the next day got told they are out of stock. I'll keep looking though someone has to have them.

Well, the main problem is that they're extremely expensive, no matter where you buy them from.
I'm pretty sure that the ones from genuinevwaudiparts.com are the right ones. They're an Audi dealer, although this wholesale price business is done only online and via e-mail.
You can shoot'em an e-mail and confirm that the ones for V8 w/o xenons are indeed 18.5/8 inches.
Here's another option.

@ Chefro
I have to agree I haven't measured or looked into this closely but I just figured that the V8 version had a facelift in 2002 and has a wider frame compared to the v6 and therefore the headlights must have been adjusted in size to fit propperly (ergo bigger frame = bigger headlights) I might be wrong though.

On the other hand I also read on several other forums because of this change in 2002 the headlights are no longer interchangeable. I'm guessing this is why the headlights Zrex received did not fit, since they were for the >2002 4.2 version and not pre- 2002 version.
